For the past 30+ years, Jeff has provided human resources leadership to large and small local governments and non-profits to improve performance, enhance customer service, and strengthen organizational effectiveness. He has also worked in key management level roles in those organizations managing finances, information technology, and other local government departments. Jeff has significant experience in the areas of leadership development, performance management, recruiting, technology implementation, and talent management. He has expertise designing and personally leading supervisor training solutions. He also has led online training for the SHRM certification course. Additional initiatives that Jeff has led include enhanced onboarding, HRIS training, and employee relations investigations.

Jeff is a Senior Certified Professional through the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). He is also a Senior Certified Professional through the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR) and a Master Project Manager through the American Academy of Project Management. Jeff has also been certified through SHRM for its Veterans at Work program. He is currently a Human Resources Business Partner with the American Society for Microbiology.

Jeff holds a B.A. degree in Political Science from the George Washington University and an M.S.
degree in Human Resources Management from St. Thomas University. He is a member of
SHRM, IPMA-HR, and DC-SHRM and has held leadership roles in other local associations
throughout his career.

Onboarding Best Practices to Ensure High Engagement with New Employees

  • Develop an onboarding plan for new employees which includes technology and engagement and departmental responsibilities 
  • Communicate all aspects of the onboarding plan and a calendar to the new hire, hiring manager, and internal stakeholders
  • Rollout a pre-start date timeline to ensure all tasks including delivery of technology, software instructions, training, and other objectives are met
  • Identify metrics and clear KPIs to ensure a smooth onboarding experience
